Abstract:
The vibrational analysis of a composite cantilever beam is consider in this paper, the finite element
method is used to find the frequencies and mode shapes of the cantilever beam for cracked and uncracked
conditions. ANSYS Work bench is used for the modelling and simulation of the work. In order to avoid the nonlinearity,
the crack is assumed to be open and the crack thickness is kept constant. To avoid the convergence of the
problem crack element size be kept constant. In this work different crack position and crack depth is considered.
Here crack position is divided equally from the fixed end of the cantilever beam and the crack depth is established
by means of a/h ratio. From the frequencies and mode shapes, contours of the normalized frequency in terms of the
crack depth ratios and crack positions are plotted. Three different beam conditions are considered for this study and
finally evaluate the results.
