Abstract:
Tachometer is a device that gives the information about the rotational
speed of any machine .The rotating machine could be any prime mover like an
electric motor, diesel engine, petrol or gas driven engine, gas turbine, water
turbine, steam turbine, or numerous industrial equipment which are driven by
any of the above engines .
As the name indicates, we can accurately measure the speed of the
rotating shaft without touching the shaft. This device is built on a 16F873A
microcontroller, an alpha-numeric LCD module and a proximity sensor to detect
the rotation of the shaft whose speed is being measured.
