dc.description.abstract Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) as the name indicates is a machine in which torque is produced by the tendency of its moveable part to move to a position where the inductance of the exciting winding is maximized. SRM has been introduced since 150 years ago. Thus far SRM is not established successfully in industry compare to brushless DC motor and Induction motor. This paper covers an entire range of topics related to research progress of SRM drive system including their fundamentals, limitations and current state of research and future trends. This should help the reader to develop a systematic understanding of the switched reluctance motor design, the control strategy, the position detection technology and the vibration and noise. en_US
